The Pro Tools courses offered at Houghton are ideal for students who want to go into sound recording and audio careers within the music, film, and video production industries.
A two-course sequence in Pro Tools is offered that teaches students how to use the audio software Pro Tools, the industry standard in sound technology. After successfully completing the Pro Tools course sequence, students are able to take an exam which gives them ProTools certification.
Pro Tools is the industry standard in the video game, recording and film industry worldwide. Certification provides a huge benefit to students by giving future employers assurance of their mastery of Pro Tools. Houghton College is a certified Avid Training Center. Avid (maker of Pro Tools) recognizes Houghton as a partner in the film and recording industry.

Throughout the school year, the Greatbatch School of Music can provide multiple options to bring live music/music education to your district. The school of music produces performances with up to 200 performers in their choral and orchestral programs. We can accommodate almost any performance need and budget.*

An Intercultural Percussion Exchange
A high-intensity performance of rhythmic sounds with a mix of entertaining movement and humor.
A captivating 50-piece symphonic band brings classical music and symphonic sound to life. The conductor will host a masterclass which will allow your music students to play along with our college students and professionals.
*Exact pricing for school performances is determined by travel time/distance and the type of performance your school desires. Performance rates start at $500.
Houghton also provides the opportunity for your district to bring students to our campus for a half or full day of interactive workshops and performances. This is an ideal opportunity for your students to become energized and excited about the prospect of college and the possibility of professional careers in music.
These events can be organized and tailored to your specific needs. Meals can be included in this program.
Professional Development Days
With budget cuts and downsizing of music programs within the public school systems, there has never been a better time to ensure that music teachers are being creatively motivated and rejuvenated. We are developing professional development days for public school music educators. These one- and two-day workshops will coordinate with existing days your school has set aside for professional development.
