Bachelor of Science in Music Industry

You’re a music artist, your brush being a soundboard, mixer, or even pencil and paper. Your palette blends composing, recording, and lighting design, creating a masterpiece that reflects your unique ideas.

Music industry at Houghton is more than keyboards, knobs, and software – it’s an artistic experience where you (literally) run the show sometimes. You manage and run the sound, recording, and even lighting for real events like Christmas Prism, major conferences, recitals, worship events, and chapel.

Sometimes you even set up and help with tech for concerts with TobyMac, Jars of Clay, Tenth Avenue North, Matt Maher, Natalie Grant, or Kansas. Pretty cool, right?

As an AVID ProTools school, our ProTools  classes lead to certification in the music industry’s leading mixing software, so you walk out of Houghton with hands-on experience with what the professionals use – including our industry-standard AVID Venue board.

Here, you’ll combine some elements of a classical education – the ability to read, interpret, and identify the quality of music – with contemporary music industry needs. That way, you graduate with the distinct advantage of having both the technical skills plus the musicality – putting you a cut above the rest.
