Houghton Celebrates New Vision Week

Houghton College and the Global Christian Fellowship are pleased to announce the 2013 New Vision Week. New Vision Week will take place Monday, October 21 through Friday, October 25. All events are free and open to the public.

New Vision Week is an annually held opportunity for the Houghton College community to intentionally reflect on God's global heart and his invitation to the mission of reaching the lost world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

This year’s theme, “Struck by Glory, Drawn to Worship,” focuses specifically on the mission field and how God’s glory is at the center of the church and its endeavors to reach others with the message of God’s love. The theme comes from Psalm 86:8-10. Houghton College welcomes Dan Baumann, Frank Fotunato and Dennis Jackson as the three guest speakers for New Vision Week.

“One of the ways we are able to respond in worship is through engaging in thought and discussion,” said Emily Peace, coordinator of New Vision Week 2013. “We are privileged to be in an environment so conducive to such discussion and processing, an environment facilitated by the academic nature of our community.”

Baumann graduated from Wheaton College with a bachelor’s in business and has been working for Youth with a Mission since then. He has taken on a number of roles in numerous states and countries since joining YWAM and is currently in Kona, Hawaii at a discipleship training center. He is the author of Imprisoned in Iran, a memoir, and co-author of A Beautiful Way.

Fortunato is the international music director for Operation Mobilization where he coordinates Heart Sounds International, a ministry promoting indigenous worship through seminars, songwriting events and recording of non-western worship, mostly in the restricted parts of the world. He recently co-authored All the World is Singing: Glorifying God through the Worship Music of the Nations.

Jackson served in pastoral ministries for nearly 30 years, but in 2009 relocated to Budapest, Hungary where he served as European Area Director for Global Partners. Jackson was elected to the position of Global Partners Executive Director in 2012. His current role is to give missional leadership to the Wesleyan Church around the world.
