U.S. News & World Report has once again named Houghton College a Best National Liberal Arts College, one of only 233 included in the ranking.

The 2018 Best Colleges list ranks 1,388 higher education institutions across the country, based on submitted statistical data for a variety of measures, including graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, undergraduate academic reputation, and financial resources. Those making the liberal arts ranking must award at least half of their degrees in the arts and sciences and place a strong emphasis almost exclusively on undergraduate education.

Houghton is the only liberal arts institution belonging to the Western New York Consortium of Higher Education to make the 2018 list, and one of seven schools from the 117 Council for Christian Colleges & Universities member institutions included this year.

Additionally, Houghton was listed in the High School Counselor Ranking, where guidance counselors from 2,200 high schools nationwide rate which national universities and liberal arts colleges they believe would provide the best educational opportunities for their students. They were asked to rank the institutions based on their personal knowledge of each college's academic record, curriculum, faculty, programs, and graduates.

“Houghton’s regular presence on this list of the Best Liberal Arts Colleges in the nation is yet another acknowledgement of the consistent quality of the education we offer,” notes Dr. Jack Connell, provost and dean of the faculty at Houghton. “This recognition is a tribute to our outstanding faculty, strong portfolio of academic programs, and profound commitment to the Christian liberal arts.”
