U.S. News & World Report has once again named Houghton College a Best National Liberal Arts College, one of only 233 included in the ranking.

The Best Colleges list ranks higher education institutions across the country, based on submitted statistical data for a variety of measures, including graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, undergraduate academic reputation, and financial resources. Those making the liberal arts ranking must award at least half of their degrees in the arts and sciences and place a strong emphasis almost exclusively on undergraduate education.

Houghton is the only liberal arts institution belonging to the Western New York Consortium of Higher Education to make the list, and one of 10 member institutions of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities.

Additionally, Houghton was listed in the High School Counselor Ranking, where guidance counselors from 2,200 high schools nationwide rate which national universities and liberal arts colleges they believe would provide the best educational opportunities for their students. They were asked to rank the institutions based on their personal knowledge of each college's academic record, curriculum, faculty, programs, and graduates. Houghton was one of eight CCCU schools and two Western New York Consortium institutions included in this listing.
