An opening reception for Stephanie McMahon: Recent Paintings Exhibition will be held on Saturday, September 29, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The reception will be held in the Center for the Arts atrium and will include comments by the artist at 7:30 p.m., followed by live music and refreshments. All Houghton faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to attend.

McMahon, assistant professor of painting and drawing at Alfred University, works fluidly between dimensional works on paper, shaped panels and traditional formats.  McMahon's paintings reflect the immediacy of the moment and expose the pensive act of creating an image that is simultaneously raw, refined and fresh. In addition to exhibiting her work nationally, McMahon received an individual artist grant from the Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts and was an artist in residence at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2008.

The Ortlip Art Gallery is an all-purpose exhibition space in the Center for the Arts at Houghton College. The exhibit program of the Ortlip Gallery presents a diverse range of innovative exhibitions and educational programs, offering insights into the work of established and emerging regional, national, and international artists and designers.

The Stephanie McMahon: Recent Paintings Exhibition is open daily from Friday, September 28, until Thursday, November 1. Visitors may browse the gallery from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information, visit
