LOCAL COMMUNITY ENCOURAGED TO HELP SAVE LIVES

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Houghton College is teaming up with the American Red Cross to sponsor a blood drive on October 5 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. on the lower level of the Campus Center. The blood drive welcomes any donors.

According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the United State is in the need of blood and one out of every 10 people admitted to a hospital needs blood. With the demand for blood transfusions growing faster than donations, the American Red Cross needs your help.

Over 80% of blood donations given to the Red Cross are collected at blood drives and that is why Houghton College has chosen to participate as a sponsor for the past several years. To help save lives by donating blood you must be at least 17 years old, weigh more than 110 pounds, and be in good general health. Appointments are not necessary.

Houghton College is located in Houghton, N.Y. between Fillmore and Belfast. For directions or more information call 585.567.9200.
