LOCAL DOCTOR RECEIVES DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Dr. Myron Glick, founding physician and CEO of Jericho Road Family Practice (JRFP) in Buffalo, N.Y. , received the Distinguished Service Award from Houghton College during Houghton’s 2004 Founders’ Day Convocation on Friday, Oct. 1.

“While others are quick to note Myron's commitment to service, he personifies humility and seeks to find ways to help those in need, not for personal recognition, but for the benefit of others. For this we present Dr. Myron Glick with the Houghton College Distinguished Service Award as one whose daily life demonstrates, in powerful ways, what it means to be a genuine Christian scholar-servant,” said Dr. Daniel Chamberlain, president of Houghton College.

JRFP is partnered with a faith-based refugee resettlement program called Journey’s End Refugee Resettlement Service and area churches in Buffalo to provide health care to approximately 250 refugees per year from over 50 countries, including Belarus, Bosnia, Congo, Cuba, Ethiopia, Ghana, Haiti, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda, Russia, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan and the Ukraine. By providing compassionate holistic health care, the JRFP builds relationships with those they service, which then provides opportunities for evangelism.

Glick has received the Buffalo Business First Forty Under Forty Business Award, the SUNY Buffalo Department of Family Medicine Volunteer Faculty Teach of the Year Award, the American Academy of Family Physicians Community Service Award, and the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, the Christian Community Health Fellowship and the Christian Medical and Dental Association.

Glick received his bachelors’ from Houghton College and his medical degree from the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed a three year Family Practice Residency Training at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pa.
