HOUGHTON STUDENT RECEIVES PSYCHOLOGY AWARD

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Janelle Potts, a senior psychology major at Houghton College from Richland, N.Y., is a winner in the student paper competition of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS).

Potts submitted her psychology senior honors paper, “Spirituality and Depression: A Meta-Analysis” for the national student paper competition for the 2005 International Convention of CAPS. Her paper will be on display and a time of dialogue will be allotted during the April 2005 convention in Dallas, Texas. She will also be presented with a monetary award during a conference luncheon.

CAPS is a professional association of Christians who serve as psychologists, therapists, counselors, psychiatrists, social workers, professors, and researchers. Founded in 1956 by a small group of Christian mental health professionals, CAPS has grown to more than 2,000 members in the U.S., Canada and more than 25 other countries.
