ALLEGANY COUNTY LEGISLATURE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY CANDIDATE NIGHT
HOUGHTON, N.Y.
— Houghton
College and the Department of History and Political Science will be sponsoring
an Allegany County Legislature (District 1) Republican Primary Candidate Night
on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
“The Allegany County
Legislature (District 1) Republican Primary Candidate Night is the only time
voters from this district will have a chance to see and hear all the
candidates together and be able to compare their platforms,” said Houghton
Professor of Political Science B. David Benedict. “It is the heart of the
American system that we be informed, even at this very local level, concerning
our democracy. These are our choices and no one else's. The future of our
county is in our hands.”
Participating in
this event are candidates Charlie Bliss, Curt Crandall, Ted Hopkins, David
Pullen and Walt Weirich.
Moderated by
Houghton’s Professor of Communication Doug Gaerte, the candidates will give a
brief opening statement followed by a few questions from the moderator and
concluding with questions from the floor.
The public is
invited to attend this free event at Houghton College’s Center for the Arts
Recital Hall. For more information or directions call 585.567.9200.
