HOUGHTON STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN SEE YOU AT THE POLE

HOUGHTON, N.Y. — Houghton College students, faculty and staff gathered together to pray at Houghton’s See You at the Pole event on Wednesday, September 21.

Members of the Houghton community met at 7 a.m. to sing, read scripture and pray. “The focus is putting our school year in God’s hands,” said Jennifer Taylor, student organizer of this event.

See You at the Pole (SYATP) is a student-initiated and student-led movement that started in the Ft. Worth suburb of Burleson, Texas, in 1990. It originated with just one youth group, who met at night at several schools around Burleson during a weekend retreat. SYATP brings students to their school flagpoles to intercede for their leaders, schools, and families, asking God to bring moral and spiritual awakening to their campuses and countries.

In 2004, more than two million teenagers met for See You at the Pole in all 50 states. Internationally, reports came in from countries on six continents, including Congo, Bahamas, Germany, Ghana, Guam, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kenya, South Korea, Malaysia, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, and South Africa.
