PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT AT HOUGHTON COLLEGE
HOUGHTON, N.Y.
— The Houghton College Ortlip Art Gallery presents a photography exhibit by
James Via on display from Sept. 30 through October.
For the past decade,
Via traveled regularly to France to photograph megaliths. These ancient
standing stones date from the Neolithic Period. In our modern culture of speed,
style and rapid transition, Via’s work invites viewers to contemplate silence,
stasis and enigma.
Via’s exhibit opens
with a gallery talk and reception on Friday, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. The free
reception is held in the Adelmann Atrium in the Center for the Arts. The
lecture will be held in the Recital Hall.
The public is
encouraged to attend the opening of Via’s exhibit.
The Ortlip Art
Gallery is located in the Center for the Arts. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Monday through Saturday. For more information call 585.567.9393. Directions can
be found at
http://campus.houghton.edu/orgs/gallery/directions.htm .
Houghton College is located on Rt. 19 in Allegany County, 65 miles south of
Buffalo and Rochester and 15 minutes from Letchworth State Park.
