HOUGHTON COLLEGE CHOIR PERFORMING AT LINCOLN CENTER

HOUGHTON, N.Y. The Houghton College Choir is making their debut performance at the Lincoln Center in New York on Wednesday, March 1.

The American Choral Director Association has invited the Houghton College Choir to be part of An Evening of Choral Artistry at the Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. They will be joined by the Temple University Concert Choir, the Queens College Vocal Ensemble and the Westminster Choir College of Rider Universitys Jubilee Singers performing masterworks from Johann Sebastian Bach, Samuel Barber, Johannes Brahms, Roland de Lassus and Camille Saint-Sans. Additionally, the ensembles will perform newer works from Wolfram Buchenberg, Stephen Caldwell, Ren Clausen, Colin Dill, Cynthia Folio, Arvo Prt, and Eric Whitacre.

Founded in 1931, the Houghton College Choir continues the tradition of performing sacred choral music that originally earned the choir a reputation for performing with sensitivity and artistry. Under the direction of conductor Brandon Johnson, the choir tours regularly throughout the United States each year. They also have performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

This May the Houghton College Choir will make an additional trip to Eastern Europe singing in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Poland and Germany.
