RECOGNIZES SERVICE OF EMPLOYEES
HOUGHTON,
N.Y. —
Houghton College recently honored the service of 39 employees — representing
a combined total of 911 years of service to Houghton — at the college’s 30th
annual Recognition Dinner. Eleven of those honored are retiring from
full-time service to the college.
“People are the key to any successful organization. Houghton College
benefits from fine people, many of whom have served long and well,” said
Houghton President Daniel Chamberlain.
Following are the employees recognized:
Ten-year service awards were given to Jeff Babbitt (associate director of
admission), Wendy Baxter (counselor), Kim Hall (student accounts counselor),
Eva Hillman (counseling and career services administrative assistant), Jerry
Knapp (equestrian center farm manager) and Thomas Randall (maintenance).
Employees recognized for 15 years of service included Robert Black
(professor of economics), Judy Congdon (professor of organ), David Lewis
(head women’s soccer coach), David Mercer (controller), Charles Smith
(carpenter), William Sylor (custodian) and Daniel Woolsey (professor of
education).
Receiving 20-year awards were Mark Alessi (administrative systems manager),
Joanne Hartman (academic dean’s office administrative assistant), Troy
Martin (director of student financial services), Ted Murphy (professor of
art), Ken Stonemetz (electrician) and Martha Wolfer (library circulation
supervisor).
Honored for 25 years of service were Wendell Ackerman (carpenter), Connie
Finney (professor of education), Ray Parlett (director of safety and
security), Sandy Roederer (academic records administrative assistant) and
Bob Whiting (mechanic).
Charles Massey (professor of education) was recognized for 30 years of
service.
Recognized for 35 years of service were Betty Bunt (library coordinator of
technical services) and Irmgard Howard (professor of chemistry).
Richard “Jake” Jacobson (professor of math) was recognized for 40 years of
service.
Retirees included Daniel Chamberlain (30 years; president), Larry
Christensen (37 years; professor of chemistry), Marcia Eustace (17 years;
accountant), Richard Gould (38 years; associate professor of classics),
Shirley Jacobson (36 years; administrative systems support analyst), Harold
Kingdon (39 years; professor of religion), Ian Lennox (30 years; board of
trustees), Loren Meyers (34 years; maintenance), Richard Perkins (28 years;
professor of sociology), Roger Rozendal (34 years; associate professor of
communication) and Duane Tullar (38 years; custodial).
