VIVACE Chamber Music offers recital at Houghton College

HOUGHTON, N.Y. — Vivace Chamber Music offers a chamber music recital at Houghton College on Saturday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m.

Houghton College Assistant Professor of Violin Lin He and Sharon Johnson, assistant professor of piano, will perform music by Ravel, Dvorak, Corigliano, Liszt and Boulanger. This performance is given as part of the weekend activities of Vivace Chamber Music, an adult weekend retreat for amateur and professional musicians held at Houghton College.

He was the featured violinist for the world premiere concert of American-Chinese composer Huang Ruo in Harris Hall at the Aspen Music Festival 2005. He has played first violin in the Shanghai Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Boston Symphony, New World Symphony, Akron Symphony, Syracuse Symphony, Chicago Jazz Orchestra and Aspen Chamber Symphony.

Johnson recently gave the world premier of Juliana Hall's “Peacock Pie” as well as Hall's “Songs of Enchantment” at the Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis. She has served as one of the official accompanists for the International Tuba/Euphonium Conference and the International Double Reed Society Conference.
