HALBERG RECEIVES CHRISTIAN BUSINESS FACULTY ASSOCIATION AWARD

HOUGHTON, N.Y. —Houghton College Professor of Business Richard Halberg was selected as the first recipient of the Barnabas Award from the Christian Business Faculty Association (CBFA).

“Halberg has been actively involved with CBFA essentially since its origination. He was elected to the first board in 1988-89 and was the organization president in 1991-92,” said CBFA Board Chair Tim Redmer during the award presentation. “Halberg has also served as the investment committee chair for CBFA, where his astute financial management has resulted in consistently superior earnings for CBFA funds.”

Halberg has taught business at Houghton College since 1975 and served as department chair from 1989 to 1999.  He has participated in the Christian College Coalition Business Lecture Series with the ServiceMaster Corporation in Moscow, spoken in the Hungarian Business Lecture Series, and taught classes with the International Business Institute while in The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and England. Halberg received his bachelor’s from Houghton in 1971 and his MBA from the University of Akron. He is also a licensed certified financial planner.

The Barnabas award was established by the CBFA to recognize a member that has exhibited the many qualities necessary for keeping Christian organizations strong and vibrant through enthusiasm, encouragement and joy.

CBFA is an organization with over 400 Christian business faculty members who teach at the college and university level. CBFA’s mission is to assist business faculty in the study, teaching and application of biblical truths to the disciplines associated with various business curricula.
