STONEMETZ RECEIVES BOOMHOWER STAFF EXCELLENCE AWARD

HOUGHTON, N.Y. —Houghton College Electrician Ken Stonemetz received the 2007 Mary Boomhower Staff Excellence Award at the college’s annual recognition dinner on April 10.

Stonemetz has served at Houghton College for 21 years, saving the college thousands of dollars on projects by performing electrical work himself instead of contracting it out. In addition to his regular work, Stonemetz has used his expertise to install elevators and place enhanced outside lighting across the Houghton campus. While quiet and humble, he leads by example, encourages others and goes about his work without a lot of fanfare.

The Mary Boomhower Staff Excellence Award was first presented in 1998 to honor Mary’s 45 years of service as a dedicated Houghton College staff member.  Recipients are chosen based on their commitment to God, servant’s heart, exemplary performance and commitment to Houghton through a minimum of 10 years of service.
