HOUGHTON COLLEGE NAMES NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

HOUGHTON, N.Y. —Houghton College announces the appointment of Teri Jones as chief financial officer beginning on May 29.

“We are delighted to have Teri Jones join us as our chief financial officer. She brings with her a wide range of experience and education that will equip her for this very distinct role in an academic institution,” said Houghton College President Shirley Mullen.

Knowledgeable in strategic planning, budget and reporting management, treasury management, capital planning and budgets, “Jones not only brings excellent training and experience, but also a range of sensitivities that will support her as she seeks to establish a more collaborative budgeting process,” commented Mullen.

Her background includes over 17 years of experience in both the business world and in the academic world. She has served as the controller at Eminata Group (a network of private career training colleges in Canada) and at Columbia Bible College in British Columbia, Canada. Her experience also includes teaching accounting and finance, serving as an accounting supervisor, and working as a senior financial analyst.

Jones has published articles on cross-cultural and ethical issues relevant to business and education. She has also designed and taught cross-cultural communications and international business courses while living in China, Uzbekistan, Lithuania and Britain.

A certified management accountant, Jones received her MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and a master’s of arts from the London School of Economics.
