John Waller Concert at Houghton College

HOUGHTON, N.Y. —Christian singer John Waller will be in concert at Houghton College on Friday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. in Wesley Chapel.

His debut album, “The Blessing,” earned Waller recognition as one of the best new Christian artists of 2007 Christianity Today and Billboard Magazine.

Waller first gained national attention fronting the group According to John, but the band’s record label went under shortly after their first album was released. Waller then moved to Colorado with his family to serve as a worship pastor at SouthLink Church.

As he began to write songs for the congregation, they were inspired enough to raise money and fund a recording in order to have hard copies of his music. Before long, his work caught the attention of Mark Hall of Casting Crowns, whose boss at Beach Street Records, Mark Miller (Sawyer Brown), eventually signed Waller to the label.

Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Reserved tickets can be purchased by calling 585.567.9200.
