Upcoming Guest Recital with Sarah Holman and Karin Reddekopp Edwards

HOUGHTON, N.Y. —The Greatbatch School of Music, Houghton College presents mezzo soprano Sarah Holman and pianist Karin Reddekopp Edwards in a guest recital on Sat., Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Recital Hall.

The recital features “Amour viens rendre mon ame” from Gluck’s Orfeo, the song cycle Les nuits d’ete of Berlioz, and the Mignon Lieder from Gedichte von Goethe of Hugo Wolf. 

Soprano Luanne Crosby will join them in an operatic duet from Cosi fan tutté. The recital will also include the premier of the mezzo soprano version of David Cutler’s Evenly Spaced Waves of Irony which won the 2006 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Art Song Composition Award. 

Holman has appeared with Chamber Opera Chicago, Opera Southwest, City Opera of the Quad Cities, Lyric Opera Cleveland, DuPage Opera, Muddy River Opera, and Kansas Opera.  As a featured soloist she has sung with the New Philharmonic, Rockford, Liberty, and Fox Valley Symphony Orchestras. She made her Carnegie Hall debut in Mozart’s Coronation Mass under the direction Simon Carrington. Currently, she serves as the Central Regional Governor for NATS and is an Associate Professor of voice at Wheaton College Conservatory where she also directs the opera program.   

Edwards, professor of piano at Wheaton College, performs frequently in Canada and the U.S. as guest artist with orchestra, in recital, on television and national radio, and as a member of the duo piano team, Redekopp and Edwards. As a collaborative performer, she has toured Japan and South Korea, South Africa, Israel, Europe, England, Canada and the U.S. She is featured in a solo CD recording, on a CD of Canadian artists, and on two new CDs released in 2007 – “Two Piano Tapestry:  Redekopp and Edwards” and “The Mennonite Piano Concerto.”
