James LaDine '86 To Address Students
HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Since 2000, James LaDine
has served as the Global Director of Research and Development
for the Lab Consumables Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Thermo Fisher Scientific is a global corporation that makes and
sells instruments, reagents and other products for use by
scientists in research, clinical, environmental and industrial
settings. Thermo Scientific provides a complete portfolio of
laboratory equipment, chemicals, supplies and services used in
healthcare, scientific research, safety and education.
LaDine graduated from Houghton College in 1986 with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. He attended SUNY-Upstate in Syracuse, N.Y. and received his doctorate degree in biochemistry in 1991, and spent two additional years in Syracuse working as a post-doctoral researcher. He parted from academic science in favor of industrial science. LaDine joined Fisons Instruments in Cambridge, United Kingdom as an applications scientist prior to his employment at Thermo Fisher Scientific. Jim and his wife of 23 years, Barbara (Carini, ‘86), have four children and live presently in Whitinsville, Massachusetts.
LaDine will address business and science students at the Guest Executive Dinner held on December 3 at 5 p.m. All students are welcome to attend.
The purpose of the monthly Guest Executive Dinner series at Houghton College is to increase student exposure to marketplace professionals from various fields and service opportunities to be both salt and light after college.
