Houghton College Lecture Series Presents Lars Brownworth '97
HOUGHTON, N.Y. – “Byzantium: Rome’s Lost
Empire” will be the topic of discussion when Lars Brownworth ’97
visits Houghton College as part of the college’s Lecture Series
on Tuesday, February 2. The lecture will be held in Shaller
Hall, Paine Science Center at 8 p.m.
Brownworth, a Houghton College history major, is an author, speaker and broadcaster. He created a podcast series on “12 Byzantine Rulers,” which was widely listened to and well reviewed. Brownworth recently published, Lost to the West: The Forgotten Byzantine Empire That Rescued Western Civilization, a book that draws upon his podcast research.
The New York Times calls Brownworth an “effective and engaging popularize” and likens him to writer, historian and philosopher Will Durant.
