Between our liberal transfer credit policy of up to 87 credits, depending on major, and various types of financial aid available, we use every manner possible to coordinate adequate resources to enable you to invest in your future at Houghton College.

Employer Reimbursement
If your employer has a tuition reimbursement plan, forward a copy of your reimbursement policy to our Student Financial Services Advisor.
FAFSA
Complete and submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at https://fafsa.ed.gov/.
Payment Options
Several payment options are available.

Applying for Financial Aid
U.S. Residents
- Complete FAFSA form.
- Complete using school code 002734 if you would like to apply for federal financial aid.
New York State Residents
- Complete the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application.
- Houghton’s NYS HESC school code is 0305.
- Upon completion of your FAFSA, you should be able to click on a direct link to the TAP application.
Liberal Transfer Credit
Houghton College knows college-level learning can occur before a student ever takes a class. Our liberal transfer credit policy lets you take credit for the knowledge you have gained by means of experience.
Transfer up to a maximum of 87 credits from previous coursework, experiential learning and/or passing DSST exam scores.
Experiential Learning Credits
Experiential Learning Credit (per credit hour; see your advisor): $35 or $125
DSST Exam
The nationally recognized DSST program helps you receive college credits for learning acquired outside the traditional classroom through a suite of more than 30 exams in college subject areas such as social sciences, math, applied technology, business, physical sciences and humanities.

- $80 administration fee*
*Fee charged by Prometric, the provider of DSST Exams, to administer the exam.
