Ordering Microsoft Office Software Instructions

As a full time Houghton College student you can get the 2007 Enterprise Version of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, OneNote, Access, Communicator, Groove, and InfoPath) at a dramatically reduced cost. If you do not have Microsoft Office on your computer, in particular Excel, PowerPoint and Word, we would strongly recommend that you order the software as these programs will be needed during your time in P.A.C.E.

The following are instructions for ordering software:

  1. Click on the following link: https://collegebuys.foundationccc.org/Default.aspx
  2. Click on “New Customer? Register Now”
  3. Click the Radio Button next to “Student Currently Enrolled in College or University
  4. Click the Radio Button next to “New York”
  5. Click the Radio Button next to “Houghton College”
  6. Click Next at bottom of screen
  7. Type in Name and Primary Email Address you use and then create a Password (be sure to record the email address and password that you use) - the site might ask you to use a '.edu' email address.  You should be fine to use your normal email address.  Students in the past have been able to create an account and order software without using a '.edu' email address.
  8. Click on Sign in and on next page sign in
  9. After you sign in, you can select your options for what you want to order.  Place a check mark in the box next to what you want to order (i.e. if wanting to order Microsoft Office, click in the box next to “Office Enterprise 2007”)
  10. Print out the next page which gives you the contact information (fax and mailing address) for where you need to send verification that you are a full time Houghton College student.  We recommend that you send a copy of your Student ID Card.  Also you will receive your software much quicker if you fax our verification
  11. After you send in your verification of being a full time student, and the foundation has received it, you will receive an email from the foundation notifying you that you are eligible for the reduced rate on the software and provide you with instructions on completing your order.

If you have any questions, you can contact P.A.C.E. at: pace@houghton.edu

The above foundation has very limited titles available.  If you are interested in taking advantage of software deals for full time college students, the best that we have come across is:  www.JourneyEd.com.  There is a wide range of software that is available.

If you are interested in upgrading your operating system to Microsoft Vista you should be very careful about upgrading your operating system. Vista takes an tremendous amount of memory (RAM) and most computers need to have significant upgrades (disk space, RAM, graphics card, etc) before you can install Vista and have it run correctly. In addition a lot of your software and/or hardware programs may not work. There is a Vista Upgrade advisor that you can download from Microsoft’s website that will let you know if your computer could handle the upgrade.  Click Here for more information on the Vista Upgrade advisor and download information from the Microsoft website.

The newest version of Microsoft's Operating System is Windows 7.  Before you upgrade your computer to the Windows 7 Operating System you should download the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.  Click Here for more information on the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and download information from the Microsoft website.
