Engineering at Houghton

We have exciting options for prospective engineers to receive the training they need to become leaders in the various fields of engineering.

Preparation for careers

The applied physics - engineering emphasis (B.S.) major is designed to give a broad background in general engineering principles and skills. This major allows the student to explore the diverse fields of engineering while maximizing the number of possible career options, something which is difficult to do with a more specialized degree.

Students are prepared for engineering careers right out of college.

Preparation for graduate programs

Many advanced careers require a post-graduate education. The applied physics - engineering emphasis (B.S.) major not only offers a broad background in general engineering principles and skills, but also provides the depth of understand and research opportunities that graduate programs are looking for.

Students are equipped to earn an engineering or physics master's degree in as little as two years or to pursue a full Ph.D. program immediately after leaving Houghton.
