Responsive Benediction

Good morning—I’d like to invite you to continue our worship by singing together a prayer, inviting God the Holy Spirit to be in this place to guide and empower us, as we seek to honor our Lord Jesus Christ.  This prayer-song comes from Tanzania, and those of you who have been there may know it in Swahili.  If so, feel free to use its native language as the rest of us sing it in English.   I’ve asked the Camerata singers to lead us in singing the verses, and Dr. Hijleh and Matt Teodori will play drums to help keep us together.  Your part is twofold:  first to let the words of the prayer, projected on the screen, become your very own as the choir sings them, and second to sing with both heart and voice on the refrain.  The refrain is quite simple.  The text is “Come, come, Come Holy Spirit, come”, and I’ll help you to sing it in parts.  If you’ve never sung a part before, just choose one that’s comfortable for your voice.  But please do sing, so that we may all pray as one Body.
