Chapel Attendance FAQ

 

Can I be exempt from chapel?

Possibly. The chapel policy is that all full-time students are required to attend 2/3 of all chapel services. The following are exempt:

 

·        student teachers

·        full-time interns

·        students enrolled in off-campus programs

·        true commuters

What happens if I forget my card/am late to chapel?

If you forget your card and are reasonably late (meaning you didn’t show up five minutes before the closing song) then you can fill out a yellow chapel attendance application. These forms are located in the student life office, which is in the right hallway of the campus center. These applications require you to know a bit about the chapel sermon, so be sure to pay attention. Taking notes may prove helpful.

 

What if I didn’t get credit but I know I scanned?

This may be because:

Your card is worn out.

This is likely the case if you have multiple chapels in a row where you scanned but didn’t receive credit. Come to the student life office at some point between 8-2 on M-F to check it on one of the scanners.

Your card # does not match the barcode in the chapel database.

Also a possible case if you were at multiple chapels in a row that you didn’t receive credit. We need to get this fixed ASAP, so come into the student life office and we will figure it out.

We haven’t had time to upload the scanned data.

PLEASE allow 2-3 days after a chapel service for us to do this before you email us/fill out a form. Only fill out forms if you KNOW you didn’t have your card or your scan didn’t go through.

There has been some fluke in the process.

This is likely if you have one or two localized misses earlier in the semester. Come in and fill out an attendance form. Hopefully this won’t happen often.

 

When do you update the chapel database?

Usually the day of, but please allow 2-3 days before emailing hefty complaints. Often schedules don’t allow us to upload immediately. Be patient.
