The

In a
game dominated by the Highlanders from start to finish,
Jr. Bethany Kowalczyk (Waterford, PA)
scored the only goal of the match in the 34th minute, assisted by
So. Hannah Swift (Perrysburg, N.Y).
With
that goal she passes Highlander Great Hannah Toth (62 Career Goals) for third on
the all time goals in a career list.
Houghton
had twenty three shots in the game with eleven being on goal. Malone College had
two shots on goal.
Fr. Becky Wakeman
(Easton, PA)
registered here 3rd shutout of the season playing all 90 minutes and
tallying 2 saves.
“We
controlled the ball from start to finish,” says Highlander Coach Lewis. “We
really need to concentrate on finishing well. Three shot’s went off the crossbar
tonight, which means were getting there but obviously we need to keep improving
till we get it.”
The
Highlanders now move to 3-0-1 overall, 1-0 in conference play. Their next game
is tomorrow against Walsh University in Canton, OH at 4pm.
Houghton College
has deep
and
solid
roots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, where our
teams use their commitment to excellence, both on the field-of-play
and
in the classroom, as a platform for their strong and
unique emphasis on Sports Ministry. Their goal is to make a difference
for the Kingdom
on campus, in Allegany County,
in the Northeast and
around
the world.
Houghton is one of only 13 institutions who have been hand-selected
by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door
for Houghton to be a leader,
both in the Northeast and
nationally, in character education.
Through hands-on,
innovative community outreach initiatives, Houghton coaches and
student-athletes
are working together to change the culture of sport and
to change our culture through sport.
