 Highlander’s Clinch 5th Consecutive Conference Title with 8-0

                                          win over Celtics

Pittsburgh, PA- The Highlanders clinched their 5th Consecutive AMC North Division Conference title Saturday beating Carlow College Celtics on the road, 8-0. The Highlanders are the last remaining undefeated NAIA Women’s Soccer program in the country that is ranked in the top 10.  

For Coach Lewis this will be his 13th AMC North Division title and or conference title in the past 14 years. The Highlanders continue to extend their season win streak of fourteen games with seven of those being in AMC North Division conference play. The Highlanders entered Saturday’s game confident of a win and did not disappoint.  

Highlights from the game had So. Hannah Swift (Perrysburg, N.Y) scoring twice for her 13th and 14th goal of the season and also chipped in her 6th assist of the season as well. Jr. Rebecca Smith (Carlisle, PA) also made her mark scoring twice for her 5th and 6th goal of the season. While Sr. Krista Fowlkes (Lake Placid, FL) produced three assist’s during the game overtaking 2nd on the All-Time Career Assist record at Houghton College with 47. Fowlkes trails assist record holder Cassandra Mills (2005) only by three assist’s who currently holds the record at 50.  

Other Highlanders that scored were Jr. Bethany Kowalczyk (Waterford, PA), her 15th goal of the season. Kowalczyk (Waterford, PA) now sits at 73 career goals, still nine shy of tying the record at 82. Sr. Bridget Toth (Victor, NY), Sr. Sarah Rowley (Hammondsport, N.Y), Jr. Sarah Whipple (Canandaigua, N.Y.) each scored once for the game.  

So. Bethany Studt (Earlville, N.Y.) quietly earned her 7th shut out of the season, playing the entire match without facing a single shot from the Carlow Celtic’s.  

The Highlanders next game is home against AMC South Division opponent Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday the 21st of October on Burke Field starting at 3:00 pm
