Krista Fowlkes Ties Career Assist Record in Houghton’s

                  8-0 Victory Over Point Park

Box Score

Houghton, N.Y. – The Lady Highlanders came out strong tonight to honor their seniors in their last regular season home game, beating Point Park University 8-0.  Sr. Krista Fowlkes (Lake Placid, FL) had two assists this evening tying the school record for most career assists with 50.

The scoring onslaught started just over three minutes into the first half when Sr. Krista Fowlkes (Lake Placid, FL) earned her first assist of the game by sending a ball to Sr. Britany Crozier (Souderton, PA) in the middle of the field; Crozier controlled the pass and placed the ball low into the far left corner.  Six minutes later, So. Hannah Swift (Perrysburg, NY) passed the ball to well defended Jr. Bethany Kowalczyk (Waterford, PA).  The pass deflected off a defender right to the foot of Kowalczyk who shot the ball low and hard past the diving keeper.  Less than two minutes later, Jr. Bethany Kowalczyk (Waterford, PA) dribbled the ball through the middle drawing the defenders to her.  She spotted an open Sr. Bridget Toth (Victor, NY) who was able to finish the ball without any pressure.  So. Hannah Swift (Perrysburg, NY) got her second assist of the game in the 16th minute when she gave a drop pass to Sr. Britany Crozier (Souderton, PA) who hit a beautiful top corner shot from just outside of the 18 yard box.  In the 19th minute Sr. Jenn Switzer (New Milford, NJ) sent a pass to Jr. Bethany Kowalczyk (Waterford, PA) who moved the ball straight through the defense and finished her shot low into the far left of the goal for her second score of the night.  To finish the scoring in the first half, Jr. Casey Lawton (Springville, NY) hit a flat pass just outside of the 18 yard box to So. Stacy Litz (Erie, PA) who hit a well placed upper corner shot just out of the goalkeeper’s reach in the 30th minute.

The scoring did not stop there.  In the second half Sr. Krista Fowlkes (Lake Placid, FL) earned her second assist of the day and tying the record on a pass to Sr. Bridget Toth (Victor, NY) who hit a hard low drive to the left side of the diving goalkeeper at the 68th minute mark.  In the 87th minute Jr. Andrea Duryea (Washington, NJ) took a direct kick that sailed over the goalkeepers head below the crossbar to wrap the goals for the night.

The defense completely shut down the Point Park offense allowing them only one shot the entire game.  Sr. Meghan Radimer (Branchville, NJ) earned her first shut out of the season and her second win since returning from her knee injury.

The Lady Highlanders finished their regular season with an outstanding 16-0-1 record and a AMC record of 8-0-0.  They look to further improve their record on Saturday October 28th, in the AMC Qualifier at 2 PM on Burke Field.
