Baptist Bible Downs Highlanders in
Volleyball, 3-1
Houghton,
N.Y.- The Houghton College
volleyball team fell to Baptist
Bible College tonight, 3-1 (28-30,
30-24, 25-30, 28-30).
The
Highlanders struggled to build
consistent momentum. Simple errors
at key moments frustrated the young
Houghton squad, allowing Baptist
Bible to capitalize on every
occasion. Houghton falls to 8-13 for
the season (1-3 in AMC North
Division play).
Holly Motheral
led offensively with 17 kills, 3
aces and 2 blocks.
Darby Emerson
recorded 15 kills and 24 digs.
Ashley Kuvshinikov
reached double figures with 10 kills
and 2 blocks. Defensively
Leah Scott continues to
impress with 7 blocks and
Megan Phipps tallied 51
assists for the match.
The
Highlanders head on the road for an
AMC North Division tri-match series
at Point Park University Saturday.
The Highlanders will be in action at
1:00 pm against Ursuline College and
again at 3:00 pm against Point Park
University.
Houghton College
has deep
and
solid
roots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, where our
teams use their commitment to excellence, both on the field-of-play
and
in the classroom, as a platform for their strong and
unique emphasis on Sports Ministry. Their goal is to make a difference
for the Kingdom
on campus, in Allegany County,
in the Northeast and
around
the world.
Houghton is one of only 13 institutions who have been hand-selected
by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door
for Houghton to be a leader,
both in the Northeast and
nationally, in character education.
Through hands-on,
innovative community outreach initiatives, Houghton coaches and
student-athletes
are working together to change the culture of sport and
to change our culture through sport.
