Houghton Men Tie Roberts
Wesleyan, 1-1

Rochester, N.Y.— The
Roberts Wesleyan Raiders scored
with less than a minute
remaining in regulation to tie
the Houghton Highlanders’ in
men’s soccer, and the game
finished 1-1 after the teams
played two scoreless overtime
periods at Roberts Stadium.
Houghton scored early, about ten
minutes into the game, when
Johnny Kimani took a bad
clearance by the Raiders
goalkeeper and tucked it in.
After that, it was a night of
frustration for Houghton.
“We created all kinds of
chances,” said Highlander Head
Coach Matthew Webb, “But the
story today is one of not
finishing.” Webb said that the
team let too many opportunities
pass, and that made the
difference.
With less than a minute
remaining in regulation, John
Zito knocked down a long ball at
the top of the penalty area and
hammered home a nice shot to tie
up the game for the Raiders, and
that was how it would end.
Houghton outshot Roberts 20-16
and had a 6-2 edge in corner
kicks. Erik Lefebvre made five
saves for the Highlanders.
Houghton’s record is now 7-2-4
overall, 2-1-1 in the American
Mideast Conference. Roberts is
6-6-3, 2-1-2 in the AMC.

University of Rochester
Yellowjackets at Burke Field on
