 VOLLEYBALL SIGNS FIRST RECRUIT

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Staci Krummel (Rising Sun, Md. / Rising Sun) has signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball at Houghton College, Highlanders head coach Nancy Cole announced today.

Krummel, a two-time Cecil County Player of the Year and three-time team MVP, will compete for a setter’s position with the Highlanders.

Krummel finished her four-year career with a school- and county-record 1,403 assists. She also holds school records for assists in a game (47), assists in a season (555), aces in a game (12), aces in a season (69), and aces in a career (130). She helped guide Rising Sun to a 16-4 record, a county title, and a runner-up finish in the Maryland 2A State Championship last fall.

“I am so excited that Staci is coming to Houghton. She will be a great fit with our team and Houghton College,” said Cole. “Staci comes in with many years of experience at the high school and club level. She is a great competitor who runs her offense well and has the ability to take the game to the next level. She will be a major contributor right away.”

She is the daughter of Joe and Sherri Krummel.

Their goal is to make a difference for the Kingdom on campus, in Allegany County, in the Northeast and around the world.  Houghton is one of only 13 institutions who have been hand-selected by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door for Houghton to be a leader, both in the Northeast and nationally, in character education.
