MEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS HONORED BY CONFERENCE

 

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Six members of the Houghton College men’s soccer team have been honored by the American Mideast Conference for their play during the 2005 season.

 

Erik Lefebvre, freshman goalkeeper (Ottawa, Ont., Canada / Beatrice Desloges)

·         AMC North Division First Team and Freshman of the Year

·         Registered 4 shutouts and tallied 1.91 goals against average in 18 games

 

Andy Walton, senior midfielder (Emmaus, Pa. / Emmaus)

·         AMC North Division First Team (honorable mention in 2004)

·         Tallied 11 goals, 4 assists; finished career with 23 goals, 14 assists

 

Tyler Haggerty, sophomore defender (Warren, N.J. / Timothy Christian)

·         AMC North Division Second Team

·         Tallied 1 goal, 2 assists

 

Guillermo Jimenez, senior forward (Tegucigalpa, Honduras / Academia Los Pinares)

·         AMC North Division Second Team

·         Registered 5 goals, 5 assists, finished career with 9 goals, 7 assists

 

Chris Cruikshank, freshman defender (Forest Hill, Md. / Redeemer Classical Christian)

·         AMC North Division Honorable Mention

·         Scored 1 goal from defender position

 

Ernie Walton, sophomore midfielder (Emmaus, Pa. / Emmaus)

·         AMC North Division Honorable Mention

·         Tallied 2 goals, 4 assists

 

 

The Highlanders (7-11), who finished the season by winning 7 of their last 10 games, also earned the AMC North Division Fair Play Team Award for the second-straight year.
