HOUGHTON FIELD HOCKEY RECRUITS TOMLINSON

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Lindsey Tomlinson (Indian Head, Md. / Henry E. Lackey) has signed a national letter of intent to play field hockey at Houghton College, Highlander coach Darlene Wells announced today.

In the sweeper position, Tomlinson helped to lead her team to a 12-2 record for the 2005 season.  Being an active member, she lettered in field hockey during all four years of high school.  As a senior, she was chosen as her team’s representative to the state all-star team.  She has also been recognized for her work in the classroom, collecting Mind in Motion scholar-athlete awards as a freshman, sophomore, and senior.

“We are excited to welcome Lindsey to the team,” said Coach Wells.  “She has had an outstanding high school career in field hockey.  We look forward to her stepping up and adding depth to our defense.”

Tomlinson is the daughter of Dale and Christine Tomlinson.  She anticipates majoring in educational ministries with a concentration in youth ministry.

Houghton College has deep and solid roots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, where our teams use their commitment to excellence, both on the field-of-play and in the classroom, as a platform for their strong and unique emphasis on Sports Ministry. Their goal is to make a difference for the Kingdom on campus, in Allegany County, in the Northeast and around the world.  Houghton is one of only 13 institutions who have been hand-selected by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door for Houghton to be a leader, both in the Northeast and nationally, in character education. Through hands-on, innovative community outreach initiatives, Houghton coaches and student-athletes are working together to change the culture of sport and to change our culture through sport.
