TURNER NAMED MEN’S
BASKETBALL ASSISTANT
HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Glyn
Turner has been named assistant men’s basketball coach and
sports information director at Houghton College, Houghton
Athletic Director Harold Lord announced today.
Turner comes to Houghton from
Athens Christian High School in Athens Georgia where he served
as head coach- varsity boy’s basketball since 2005. He recorded
a 6-17 record during his stint reaching the G.H.S.A. Class A -
Region 8 Semi-finals.
Before coaching, he successfully
completed five years of NCAA Div 1. Basketball at Liberty
University from 2000-05 in Lynchburg, Virginia. Here he helped
Liberty win the Big South Conference Championship in 2004
gaining an automatic bid into the NCAA Div. 1 Men’s National
Championship, where they played number one ranked St. Joseph
University in Buffalo, NY. While at Liberty he earned his
Bachelors in Biblical Studies, Bachelors in Political Science,
and his Master Degree in Counseling.
Turner also brings professional
playing experience winning a National Championship and named MVP
in the CBA (New Zealand)

all about and what it takes to get there. He earned two
undergraduate degrees and a masters degree within a five-year
career while playing at a high level. This shows an
understanding of our commitment to academics. There is no
question that he is a man of faith and will be a good example to
those with whom he works," said Coach Lord.
In his new position, Turner will
assist Coach Zarges with the coaching and administration of the
men’s basketball program, overseeing and managing the team's
strength and conditioning development, implementing the team's
mentoring program, and assisting in the development of post
players in preparation for the demands of a rigorous and
competitive game environment.
