BRYANT SIGNS WITH
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Houghton, N.Y. – Leanora Bryant (Bronx, N.Y. /
Crossway Christian Academy) has signed a national letter of intent to
play basketball at Houghton College, Highlander coach Skip Lord
announced today.
Bryant, who is a versatile 5’9” F/G averaged 20 points per game this
year, shooting 52 percent from the field and 42 percent from beyond the
arch. She also brings with her some much needed inside presence
averaging 12 rebounds and 7 blocks per game.
“Nora is a very gifted athlete who comes to us from a very small school
in the Bronx which didn't have interscholastic sports. She was able to
get some experience in a small home school league. We first met Nora at
our Houghton College Summer Basketball Camps. She is a true diamond in
the rough,” says Coach Lord. “She has great athleticism and good size
for a guard. She is big, strong and fast. She can legitimately play any
position on the floor with the possible exception of the post. We see
her as competing at the two or three spot and backing up the point. She
handles the ball well and is a serious threat from the outside. Nora is
a hard worker who will inspire others to excel. She is friendly and
outgoing and will add to our team chemistry right away.”
She anticipates majoring in
Communications.
Houghton College
has deep
and
solid
roots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, where our
teams use their commitment to excellence, both on the field-of-play
and
in the classroom, as a platform for their strong and
unique emphasis on Sports Ministry. Their goal is to make a difference
for the Kingdom
on campus, in Allegany County,
in the Northeast and
around
the world.
Houghton is one of only 13 institutions who have been hand-selected
by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door
for Houghton to be a leader,
both in the Northeast and
nationally, in character education.
Through hands-on,
innovative community outreach initiatives, Houghton coaches and
student-athletes
are working together to change the culture of sport and
to change our culture through sport.
