Highlanders
Make Quick Work of Arrows, 9-0

Houghton, N.Y. –
The Houghton Highlanders made quick work
of the Ursuline College Arrows, 9-0 today. The Highlanders attack was led
Jr. Bethany Kowalczyk (Waterford, PA),
registering a hat trick and two assists. The Highlanders kept the pressure on
the Arrows the majority of the game by keeping the ball in the Arrows end.
Highlander Jr. Bethany Kowalczyk (Waterford,
PA) opened up the Highlanders scoring onslaught in the 12th
minute with a goal assisted by Sr. Jenn Switzer
(Milford, NJ). Kowalczyk also scored in 23rd
and 50th minute recording a hat trick on the night helping her close
in on the Houghton all time scoring leader position. The goal in the 23rd
minute was assisted by Jr. Krista Fowlkes
(Lake Placid, FL) while the 50th minute was assisted by
Sr. Bridget Toth (Victor, NY).
Also Highlander
Sr. Britany Crozier (Souderton, PA) helped
the Highlander register their 10th win scoring in the 28th
and 50th minute. The goal in the 50th minute came 17
seconds before Kowalczyk’s third goal on
the night. Crozier’s goal in 28th
minute was assisted by Jr. Bethany Kowalczyk
(Waterford, PA) while her goal in the 50th minute was assisted by
Jr. Krista Fowlkes (Lake Placid, FL), her
second assist on the day.
Highlander Jr. Casey Lawton (Springville, NY)
also helped the Highlanders with a two goal performance on the day. Her
first one came in the 31st minute assisted by
So. Hannah Swift (Perryburg, NY).
Lawton’s second goal on the night came in
the 79th minute closing out the Highlanders scoring attack. The goal
was assisted by So. Rebecca Buszka
(Lancaster, NY) setting up Swift for
a clean shot on the Arrows goal.
In the
18th minute Sr. Bridget Toth
(Victor, NY) scored off a one time pass from Jr.
Behtnay Kowalczyk (Waterford, PA). In the 69th minute the
Highlander So. Hannah Swift (Perryburg, NY)
took a one time pass from Fr. Leslie Foster
(Woodhull, NY) and buried the shot into the back of the net.
So. Bethany Studt
(Earlville, N.Y.),
registered her 4th shutout of the season playing 72 minutes and
tallying 1 save while defender/midfielder Fr. Esther
Willet (Earlville, N.Y.) registered 18 minutes of play facing no
shots.
The Highlanders look to continue their
dominance in the National rankings and to better their 10-0-1 record during
Homecoming weekend. The game takes place on Saturday, October 7th
versus Milligan College of Tennessee with the kickoff at 1PM at Burke Field.
