GK Erin Frederick Makes 26 Saves in Loss to Bloomsburg

                                        University, 4-0

Box Score

Houghton, N.Y. - Bloomsburg University showed why they were ranked #1 in NCAA Div. II today in their win over the Houghton Highlanders, 4-0. The Lady Huskies looked and played the role as the superior team moving and controlling possession of the ball with ease against an outnumbered Highlander team.

One bright spot of the afternoon was Sr. Erin Frederick (Wilmington, DE) who had a busy career day in goal tallying 26 saves for the day, good enough for third on the all time list for saves in a games tying Peggy Wraight (1984).

The Highlanders walked away from the game knowing that they are capable of playing with the best, even under circumstances with key players still unavailable due to injury.

The Highlander next game is away against University of Rochester on October 12th at 4:00 pm. The Highlanders record now moves to 6-4 for the season.

Houghton College has deep and solid roots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, where our teams use their commitment to excellence, both on the field-of-play and in the classroom, as a platform for their strong and unique

emphasis on Sports Ministry. Their goal is to make a difference for the Kingdom on campus, in Allegany County, in the Northeast and around the world.  Houghton is one of only 13 institutions who have been hand-selected by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door for Houghton to be a leader, both in the Northeast and nationally, in character education. Through hands-on, innovative community outreach initiatives, Houghton coaches and student-athletes are working together to change the culture of sport and to change our culture through sport.
