Houghton Comes Up Short to Ramapo In Overtime, 2-1

Box Score

Houghton, N.Y. The Lady Highlanders dominated the wet field against Ramapo College (NJ) today, but fell to the Lady Roadrunners 2-1 in overtime.  The scoreboard did not reflect the game today with Houghton out-shooting Ramapo 24-12.

The Highlanders first and only goal came in the 31st minute when Fr. Carissa Lang (Pittsford, NY) scored her first goal of the season by slamming the ball in on the far post past the Ramapo goalkeeper, off one of Houghton’s many corners, this time a cross from Fr. Ashley Hoffman (Webster, NY)

Despite the Highlanders dominance, it did not result in a win for them today.  Houghton took the Lady Roadrunners to sudden death overtime, but were unable to defeat Ramapo.

The Highlanders look to improve their current 7-6-0 record at their next game on October 27th against Seton Hill at home on the Alumni Athletic Complex Field at 4:00 PM.

Houghton College has deep and solid roots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, where our teams use their commitment to excellence, both on the field-of-play and in the classroom, as a platform for their strong and unique

emphasis on Sports Ministry. Their goal is to make a difference for the Kingdom on campus, in Allegany County, in the Northeast and around the world.  Houghton is one of only 13 institutions who have been hand-selected by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door for Houghton to be a leader, both in the Northeast and nationally, in character education. Through hands-on, innovative community outreach initiatives, Houghton coaches and student-athletes are working together to change the culture of sport and to change our culture through sport.
