Men and Women Place 1st at Highlander Fall

Women's Results
Houghton, N.Y.- The Houghton Highlander's
Men's and Women's Cross Country teams placed 1st at the 2006 Highlander Fall
Classic today under wet conditions. Running a soften course the Highlanders
prevailed to record four personnel records and the best men's team time for the
season so far.
The women were successful in wrapping up five of
the top nine places Sr. Mary Gibson
(Grosse Pointe, MI) placed 1st for the Highlanders, followed by
Fr. Kaitlin Fadden (Hyde Park,
NY) in 3rd place; Jr. Rachel Rhodes
(Salamanca, NY) placed 7th; Jr. Heather Hutton
(Brantford, Ontario) placed 8th with a personnel record of 21:51 and
Jr. Lydia Thornblade (Castleton, VT) placed
9th. The women finished with 25 total points giving them their first meet win of
the season.
The men displayed similar results to the girls;
So. Dan Ballard (Syracuse,
NY) came in 1st place with a
personnel record time of 26:21; Jr. Chad Stauring (Arkport, NY)
finished 2nd,
So. Jacob Connor (Orchard Park, NY) finished
5th with a personnel record time of 27:07, Fr. Landry Jarvis (St. Catherines,
Ontario) finished 7th, Jr. Michael Platt
(Wayne, NJ) placed 8th and Sr. Ryan Spear
(Franklinville, N.Y.) finished 15th for the Highlanders also recording a
personnel record of 28:30.
The men's recorded their season's best team time
at 2:15:29.
The Highlander's are peaking at the right time of
the season with AMC Cross Country Championships just round the corner, Saturday
the 4th of November at Tiffin University (OH) starting at 10:00 pm for the women
and 11:00 pm for the men.
Houghton College
