Tough Loss to Rival Roberts Wesleyan, 1-0

Box Score

Houghton, N.Y. The Highlanders came out fighting but in the end came up short versus rival Roberts Wesleyan.  Before tonight’s contest, Houghton honored the Senior Highlanders of the class of 2007 for their hard work on and off the field and their commitment to the program.  These Senior Highlanders will definitely be missed and best of wishes to them in their new endeavors.  The Senior Highlanders who were recognized tonight in alphabetical order by last name were Pat King (Albion, NY), Ben Loos (Angola, NY), Dan Miller (Stanley, NY), Vince Wagner (Egg Harbor, NJ), and Chad Wakeman (Easton, PA).

The Highlanders are now 4-9-2 for the season and 2-1-1 in the AMC North Conference.  The Highlanders look to better their AMC record versus Notre Dame College on Saturday, October 28th at South Euclid, Ohio at 1:00PM.

Houghton College has deep and solid roots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, where our teams use their commitment to excellence, both on the field-of-play and in the classroom, as a platform for their strong and unique

emphasis on Sports Ministry. Their goal is to make a difference for the Kingdom on campus, in Allegany County, in the Northeast and around the world.  Houghton is one of only 13 institutions who have been hand-selected by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door for Houghton to be a leader, both in the Northeast and nationally, in character education. Through hands-on, innovative community outreach initiatives, Houghton coaches and student-athletes are working together to change the culture of sport and to change our culture through sport.
