Sr. Krista Fowlkes Breaks Houghton Assist Record

Houghton, N.Y. – Highlander Women's Soccer player Sr. Krista Fowlkes (Lake Placid, FL) collected her 51st assist for her career in a 6-0 win over Daemen College in the AMC Qualifier match on Monday night. The record breaking assist came off the second goal of the evening from teammate So. Mandy Lewandowski (North East, PA).

The record was formerly held by Highlander standout Cassandra Mills (2005). Fowlkes has an opportunity this weekend to extend her assist record and to bring the Highlanders one step closer to another NAIA National Tournament berth and possibly Houghton College's first NAIA National Championship.

The Highlander's will play Malone College in the NAIA Region IX Semi-final on Friday the 3rd of November at Home on Burke Field starting at 12:00 pm.

Houghton College has deep and solid roots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, where our teams use their commitment to excellence, both on the field-of-play and in the classroom, as a platform for their strong and unique

emphasis on Sports Ministry. Their goal is to make a difference for the Kingdom on campus, in Allegany County, in the Northeast and around the world.  Houghton is one of only 13 institutions who have been hand-selected by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door for Houghton to be a leader, both in the Northeast and nationally, in character education. Through hands-on, innovative community outreach initiatives, Houghton coaches and student-athletes are working together to change the culture of sport and to change our culture through sport.
