Volleyball Receives AMC Post Season Honors
Houghton, N.Y. - The Houghton Highlanders
Women's Volleyball team received several AMC Post Season honors for their effort
this season. The Highlanders finished with an overall record of 17-13 and going
9-5 in AMC North Division play reaching the NAIA qualifying round.
Three Houghton Seniors were honored,
Elizabeth Gardner
(New Castle, PA) was selected to
the Second Team All AMC North Division for 2006. She also was recognized as a
member of the Third-Team All-CoSIDA Scholar Athlete for District 1 at the
College Level.
She
averaged 11.24 assists per game this season
easily passing the 1000 assist mark and finishing with 1158 assist for the year.
The two other seniors honored by the AMC are
Audrey Seldomridge
(Landisville, PA) and
Emily Kuvshinikov (Edinboro, PA).
Seldomridge and Kuvshinikov both received AMC North
Division Honorable Mention for their efforts this season. Kuvshinikov showed
great consistency this season from the offensive end averaging 2.27 kills and
0.49 blocks per game this season for the Highlanders. Seldomridge showed great
versatility this season having a great all round year, offensively and
defensively. She averaged 2.67 kills, 2.56 digs and 0.46 blocks per game this
season for the Highlanders.
The
other
Highlander honored this season is
Fr. Holly Motherall
(Paris, ON). Motherall was selected First Team All-AMC North Division and to
the All-AMC North Division Freshman Team. Motherall had an impressive freshman
year leading the Highlanders in kills (3.07 pg), attacking percentage (.275%)
and being tied for second in blocks with (0.75 pg). Motherall will step forward
as a leader for the Highlanders in years to come.
Houghton College

roots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, where our
teams use their commitment to excellence, both on the field-of-play
and
in the classroom, as a platform for their strong and
unique
emphasis on Sports Ministry. Their goal is to make a difference

the world.

by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door
for Houghton to be a leader,
both in the Northeast and
