Lefebvre Named NAIA 2nd Team All-American

Houghton, N.Y.-  Highlanders Men's Soccer Goal Keeper Erik Lefebvre (So. Ottawa, ON) was honored by the NAIA today being selected as a Second Team All-American for the 2006 season.

Lefebvre recorded six shut-outs this season for the Highlanders helping them to an overall record 6-10-3 with an AMC North Division record of 3-1-1. Lefebvre was instrumental in the team's development, helping them reach the NAIA Region IX Final Four for the first time under Coach Matt Webb's tenure.

Lefebvre allowed only 22 goals this season giving him a 1.32 GA average in just 1499 minutes of action this season. Lefebvre is the first All American since Sanjeev Parmar and Akim Antwi in 1997.

Lefebvre was also selected for First Team All-AMC North Division

Houghton College has deep and solid roots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, where our teams use their commitment to excellence, both on the field-of-play and in the classroom, as a platform for their strong and unique

emphasis on Sports Ministry. Their goal is to make a difference for the Kingdom on campus, in Allegany County, in the Northeast and around the world.  Houghton is one of only 13 institutions who have been hand-selected by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door for Houghton to be a leader, both in the Northeast and nationally, in character education. Through hands-on, innovative community outreach initiatives, Houghton coaches and student-athletes are working together to change the culture of sport and to change our culture through sport.
