Highlanders Pull
Even, 2-2 on Season with Win
Over Paul Smith, 69-43

The
Highlanders played an unfamiliar NAIA opponent tonight. Paul Smith College of
New York, who just joined the Sunrise Conference this season could not stop
the Highlanders as they rolled out with a 26 point win over Paul Smith, 69-43.
In the
first half the Highlanders came out aggressive against Paul Smith taking an
early double digit lead. The Highlanders had difficulty keeping the Bob Cats
from getting to the free-throw line and they slowly chipped away at the lead
leaving the Highlanders with a 7 points margin going into half time.
The
Highlanders increased the intensity in the second half going on a 15-2 run to
start the half. At one point the lead increased to as much as 29 point’s with
smart ball control and great team execution on offense. The Highlanders shot 40%
from the floor and 39% from the three point line. The Highlanders led
in team rebounds, 47-30.
Luke Mortenson
(Sr.
Greenville, N.Y)
score a game high 17 points followed by Ahmed Abdelhamid (Fr. Auckland, New Zealand)
who put up 11 points and 9 rebounds. Martin Axnick (Jr.
Rahden, Germany) started his first game of the season pulling down 11 rebounds
and scoring 3 points tonight.
Corky McMullen (Sr. Castile, N.Y) led the
Highlanders in assists with 8 and also had 6 points. Rounding out the
Highlanders effort was Tyler Mutton (So.
Brockport, New York) who came off the bench tonight with 6 points and 7
rebounds.
The
Highlanders next game is home versus Redeemer University at 8:00PM on Wednesday,
December 6th.
