        Women's Soccer Lands Four NSCAA NAIA

                              All-Americans 

 

Houghton, N.Y.- The women's soccer team landed four selections for NSCAA NAIA All-American nominations for the 2006 season. The women's team had an overall record of 18-2-2 for the year going undefeated (8-0) again in AMC North Division play. The women reached the NAIA Elite 8 in the National Tournament, finishing the year at 5# in the NAIA National Rankings.

Bethany Kowalczyk (Jr. Waterford, PA) was selected as a NAIA 2nd Team All-American for the Highlanders this year.  Kowalczyk had a stellar year scoring 21 goals and 13 assists this season. During the month of September she was selected as the NAIA National Player of the Week ending October 1st. Kowalczyk is only one of three forwards selected as an All American this season.

Kowalczyk is just three goals shy of tying the All-time scoring record for most goals in a career with 79. Kowalczyk was named as an NAIA 1st Team All Region IX member, including the Player of the Year award finishing with 41.49 in the Player Final Index.  Kowalczyk is also named to the 1st Team All-AMC North Division Team which includes the Player of the Year award as well.

Bridget Toth (Sr. Victor, NY)  was selected as a NAIA 3rd Team All American. Toth scored 9 goals and 8 assists for the Highlanders this season. Toth shot 62 % for the season for shots on goal this year and last year was selected as an NAIA All American Honorable Mention. Toth adds to her accomplishments by being selected as an NAIA 1st Team All-Region IX team and 1st Team All-AMC North Division.  

 

Jenn Switzer (Sr. Milford, NJ) was selected as an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention selection. Switzer started all 22 games this season for the Highlanders tallying 4 assists this year. Switzer was one of the Highlanders cornerstones on defense this year. Switzer was named as a NAIA 1st Team All-Region IX Team and 1st Team All-AMC North Division as a defender.

 

 

Kim Gehl (Sr. Belmont, NY) was selected as an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention selection. Gehl started 21 out 22 games this season on defense. Gehl possessed great speed and aggressiveness on defense this year for the Highlanders. Gehl was also selected as a NAIA 1st Team All-Region IX Team and 1st Team All-AMC North Division as a defender.

  

 

Other Highlanders receiving honors this season are:

Krista Fowlkes (Jr. Lake Placid, FL) was selected to the NAIA 2nd Team All-Region IX team and 1st Team All-AMC North Division team. Fowlkes led the Highlanders with 14 assists this season and broke the All time assist record for most assists with in a career with her 51st coming against Daemen College in the AMC Qualifier match on October 30th.  Fowlkes also scored 3 times for the Highlanders with a shot of goal % of 62%.

 

  

 

Hannah Swift (So. Perryburg, NY) was selected to the 1st Team All-AMC North Division team. Swift was second in scoring for the Highlanders with 15 goals and also had 8 assists for the year. Swift started 6 games this season out of the 20 she played, bringing a high level of productivity off the bench this season. Swift also scored the game winning goal for the Highlanders 3 times this season.
