     Men’s Basketball Extend Streak to 3 With Win Over

                         SUNY Fredonia, 70-63

Houghton, N.Y. The Highlanders made history last night as they captured a 70-63 victory over NCAA Division III SUNY Fredonia.  The Highlanders are now on their first 3 game win streak since February 10, 2004. 

The Highlanders and Blue Devils battled back and forth with the Blue Devils outplaying the Highlanders in the first half with a 5 point lead going into half time.  The Highlanders answered back to the Blue Devils challenge, outplaying them in the second half helping the Highlanders capture the win.

Leading the Highlanders was Yannick Anzuluni (Fr. Ottawa, ON) going 7 for 7 from the field scoring 20 points and registering 5 rebounds and 2 steals in 24 minutes of play.  Martin Axnick (Jr. Rahden, Germany) scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots while Luke Mortenson (Sr. Greenville, NY) scored 14 points and registered 2 steals.  Tyler Mutton (So. Brockport, NY) went 4 for 7 from the three scoring 16 points for the Highlanders. 

“We were down by 5 points going into half time.  We challenged them and our boys answered that challenge.  At the beginning of the 2nd half, Anzuluni scored 11 straight points and Mortenson caused 2 Blue Devil turnovers, both steals” said Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Glyn Turner.  The Highlanders shot 56% from the field in the second half and 44% overall. 

The Highlanders next game is the winner of RIT versus Hobart at 3PM on Saturday, December 9th.
