Mason Set's New School Record at Cornell
Invitational
Meet Results
Ithaca,
NY- Sr. Joe Mason set the school record in the 35 lb. weight throw with a
toss of 49' 5.5" at the Kane Invitational at Cornell University. This
breaks his previous throw of 48' 6.25" from a year ago. He was also 6.5" away
from qualifying for nationals in the weight throw
In other action the Highlander Track and field
team set 21 PR's, including 1 automatic qualification for Nationals by Sr. Ryan
Fadden who improved upon his 800m time to 1:55.46. This time gave Fadden a new
PR and was good enough to bump his provisional bid for National's to an
automatic qualification.
The team will complete once again at Cornell University on Feb. 17 which will be
their last indoor meet before Indoor Nationals.
Houghton College
has deep
and
solid
roots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, where our
teams use their commitment to excellence, both on the field-of-play
and
in the classroom, as a platform for their strong and
unique emphasis on Sports Ministry. Their goal is to make a difference
for the Kingdom
on campus, in Allegany County,
in the Northeast and
around
the world.
Houghton is one of only 13 institutions who have been hand-selected
by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door
for Houghton to be a leader,
both in the Northeast and
nationally, in character education.
Through hands-on,
innovative community outreach initiatives, Houghton coaches and
student-athletes
are working together to change the culture of sport and
to change our culture through sport.
