Three More Added To Track & Field Nationals

Meet Results

Houghton, NY (4/12/07)- Jacob Connor, Mike Platt and Steve Scott all provisionally qualified in the 2007 Highlander Outdoor Invitational for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Nationals last week. The Highlanders competed amongst wet and chilly temperatures to set 3 school records and record 9 PR's.

Jacob Connor prevailed in sleet conditions in the 1/2 marathon resetting the school record with a time of 1:15:40. Conner was also joined by fellow Highlander Mike Platt finishing with a time of 1:16:25. Both runners provisionally qualified for the nationals later this season.

The rain had stopped when Steve Scott stepped up to the 400m Hurdles. Scott blew away the field with a blistering run setting a new school record of 55.29. Scott now provisionally qualifies for Nationals with his time.

For the women's team Kaity Fadden reset the Women's 3K Steeplechase record with a time of 12:33.52

Athletes of meet were Kaity Fadden, Jacob Connor, Mike Platt, and Steve Scott for school record performances and/or nationals qualification. Honorable mention to Alec Dagg who had PR's in both of his events (200m and 400mIH).

Houghton College has deep and solid roots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, where our teams use their commitment to excellence, both on the field-of-play and in the classroom, as a platform for their strong and unique emphasis on Sports Ministry. Their goal is to make a difference for the Kingdom on campus, in Allegany County, in the Northeast and around the world.  Houghton is one of only 13 institutions who have been hand-selected by the NAIA to serve as "Champions of Character" Program Centers, opening the door for Houghton to be a leader, both in the Northeast and nationally, in character education. Through hands-on, innovative community outreach initiatives, Houghton coaches and student-athletes are working together to change the culture of sport and to change our culture through sport.
